Before starting ECS, I led operations and a major capital expenditure program, including multiple fast-track plant expansion projects, for a global food manufacturing company. I also was a business partner in a start-up food manufacturing company - I designed the plant, built the plant, hired and trained all the employees, and managed the entire operation. In addition, I worked on the contractors' side of the table where I learned how much profit they make, how their profit differs dramatically based on project delivery and competition, and what business risks they face every day.
In 2004, I founded ECS as a Construction Management Agency / Owner's Representative to:
- Protect owners from exploitation and excessive costs from the construction industry.
- Generate savings for owners that far exceeds our fee
- Deliver disciplined project oversight
I love the design and construction industry. I especially enjoy getting out of the office and spending time at construction job sites. It's not as fun as family time, boating, fishing, or golfing here in Southwest Florida, but it's my idea of the perfect work day. I get to meet new people, see talented tradespeople apply their skills, and see plans from brilliant engineers and talented architects come to life that make dreams come true for many people.
I've learned a lot since I first sat on the owner's side of the table leading projects and then later working as a Project Executive for contractors doing both engineering design and construction work. My experience on both sides of the table has made me uniquely qualified to understand the roadblocks owners face from the construction industry. Over the years, I've been blessed to use my God-given talents to build great things - work teams, communities, buildings and, most importantly, many life-long friendships.
