Pharmaceutical Company
An ECS client from the Midwest decided to get into the pharmaceutical business in Arizona. Because they previously relied on ECS for multiple projects, they called to see if they could manage this project for them. ECS agreed to do so, quickly got licensed to work in Arizona and got started immediately.
The owner bought an existing operation that was being run from a building that was not up to industry standards. He bought a new building, but it would need major modifications to be suitable for a pharmaceutical operation. ECS met with the company staff and developed building floor plans and a pharmaceutical processing equipment layout plan. ECS then wrote a Request For Proposal for architectural and engineering design services, solicited bids and recommended the best firms for the project. ECS then generated an AIA contract for their services, negotiated terms, and oversaw design development to make sure their plans met the owner's needs.
When the design was complete, ECS wrote a Request For Proposal for construction services and solicited competitive bids from multiple qualified contractors. After carefully researching the background of each contractor, conducting interviews and checking their references, ECS made recommendations to the owner for selection of the best contractor for the project. They then issued an AIA contract to the general contractor, negotiated terms and oversaw their work.
During the construction process, ECS effectively managed all aspects of the design and construction process and quickly addressed questions and concerns as they arose. They also assessed the process and packaging system needs for the new operation and coordinated with the owner's staff for installation and start up of their new pharmaceutical machinery.
Food Processing Company
A food processing company needed to quickly complete a plant expansion and add production lines in order to meet soaring consumer demand for their new product. The expansion needed to be done without interrupting production operations and without distracting plant management staff from their day-to-day duties.
ECS was brought in at the preliminary design development phase to lead all aspects of design and construction. Because ECS has significant experience in process engineering, they also coordinated the work of the process and packaging system suppliers to provide oversight on the entire project. This allowed the owner’s staff to focus on their day-to-day jobs during design and construction.
ECS brought together an exceptional design team and quickly developed a plan to expand the plant while keeping current production running. During design, ECS reached out to qualified contractors and generated Request For Proposals to solicit multiple, competitive bids that included liquidated damages to avoid schedule delays. As a result of the leadership of ECS, production operations were uninterrupted, the project was completed as planned, and the owner’s staff was able to focus their efforts on keeping the plant running throughout the duration of the project.
